“There’s always a bookstore down the street, so why come to the Manila International Book Fair 2012?” you might ask. Oh, believe me, MIBF 2012 is much better than any bookstore you’ve ever been to.

I share with you a few things you just must look for when you finally decide to leave the company of your laptop (don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere) and buy at least one book (no, Internet reading just won’t cut it sometimes).

MIBF 2012: 5 Good Things About It

If you love discounts and books, MIBF 2012 has to be one of your stops before it ends on September 16! And here are 5 good things about the MIBF.

  • You can get free tickets. Actually, I’m giving away TWENTY free tickets to the MIBF 2012. I’m not kidding. All you need is a Twitter account!
  • Once you get there, you get discounted books – even the brand new ones. For instance, Fully Booked and National Bookstore are giving a 20 percent discount on all their books. And if you’re still in school, you can buy next year’s books at such good bargains! So if you’re a cheapskate like me, come on over to the home of cheap books!

  • You get to see your favorite MIBF Bookworms. Have you watched the videos of Carlos Celdran, Stanley Chi, Ramon Bautista, and Tado Jimenez yet? You should. MIBF Bookworms
And whoever you think is the cutest, feel free to stalk him during the MIBF 2012 coz he’ll be there.
  • You can get autographed copies of your favorite books. A lot of authors are coming to the MIBF 2012 to sign books. For instance, three of our very own comedian-authors, namely Ramon Bautista, Stanley Chi, and Tado Jimenez, are at the MIBF tomorrow from 1 to 5pm at the Psicom booth. It’s your chance to fulfill your perverted fantasies!

  • You will lose ten pounds. Okay, maybe five. It all depends on how fast you walk and how many times you walk around the book fair. Hey, it’s the entire SMX Convention Center we are talking about here. You can do away with your treadmill session today in exchange for the book fair, really.

But if that’s not enough, then just see the wonderful books I got from the MIBF 2012 and you just might envy me a little. I shall be posting the books I bought very soon. Once you see what I bought and how much I bought them for, don’t say I didn’t tell you about the Manila International Book Fair once it’s over!
