My Halloween Costume

posted by Stef dela Cruz on

Last Halloween, I had to play dress-up. I knew that many will be dressed as witches, fairies, queens, or princesses. I had to think of a costume that did not entail having to go to the tailor or buying a retail costume at Cheap Costumes ‘R Us. I then came up with this costume:

Halloween costume

Can you guess who I was last Halloween? Open-mouthed smile Rawr! (Okay, in the picture, I wanted a “rawr” moment, but I’m no good at poses, am I? Hihi!)

What I wore last Halloween:

Tiger ears
Layered top
Studded belt
Torn cut-off denims
Black tights
Black boots

I shall post more pictures of a fun Halloween party I attended. But for now, here’s us in a group pic:

How to Buy Tweets

Twitter, Facebook, and other social media have become a prime avenue for advertising, which is why a lot of companies and businesses want to know how to buy tweets or purchase sponsored tweets. Sponsored tweets are actually tweets that regular Twitter account holders post through Twitter; in exchange, they get a certain amount of money. For instance, if an advertiser wants me to tweet about a certain product, he can pay me for it.

Of course, this works best if there are many Twitter accounts ready to post sponsored tweets. It would be excruciatingly slow and tedious to ask one Twitter account owner at a time if they're willing to take sponsored tweets. This is where Sponsored Tweets steps in. They have provided a platform where advertisers can buy tweets from tweeters.

Sponsored Tweets now has a promo where you get $150 worth of tweets for only $100, simply by signing up. Avail of the promo by clicking on the BUY NOW button below:

Through sponsored tweets, you can help your new business. Instead of wondering how to buy tweets, you can simply sign up at Sponsored Tweets… and let them do the work for you. Spread the word – and get sponsored tweets!

And if you want ME to tweet for you, do so by clicking on the button below:

The Flash on The Suplado Show

The Suplado Show gives us what we want by talking about courtship, relationships, rejection, and gender quirks as Stanley Chi chatted up Glenn Antonio a.k.a. “Flash” for his October 17 episode.

Suplado Show

Glenn Antonio, arguably Asia’s owner of the biggest collection of Flash memorabilia, came in full Flash costume last Monday at DigRadio studios. He opened up on previous misadventures with crushes and what-not, while Stanley Chi also shared his own failed courtship stories.

After the show, Stanley and Glenn went to Saguijo, where everyone asked Glenn to grace the stage with his presence. True to Flash fashion, he came and went – and those who saw him wondered if they really did.

Wait, was that the Flash? He’s faster than my camera, I barely got to take his picture!

After the show, Nino Avenido of Greyhoundz and Francis “Tats” Josef joined us for a few photo opps. (Oh, yes, that’s necessary.)

I so have to learn how to do those dynamic poses. Apparently, the Flash has it down pat…

Mr. Suplado couldn’t resist doing a “Flash” pose himself. Do you think he’ll make a good cosplayer?

The Suplado Show airs every Monday, 9p.m. - 11 p.m. This internet radio talk show is hosted by renowned comic, cartoonist, & television host Stanley Chi.

Pepper the Wonder Dog

I love dogs, cats, birds, snakes, monkeys, apes – you get the drift. Ever since I was a little girl, I’m undeniably drawn to animals. (I wonder, did it have something to do with being an only child?)

Pipay the Wonder Dog

Years later, I’m still in love with animals of all sizes and shapes (except maggots – ew!). Here’s Pepper the Wonder Dog, a.k.a. Pipay, nuzzling me and showing me some love. Dog face

The child in me wants to believe that all dogs and cats have souls. Please, God, let that be true.

Pepper is a dachshund – and a really smart and sensitive dog. She’s about two years old.

I was experimenting with my webcam and I was not satisfied with the resolution. However, I did like the idea of taking pics with it, so here are a few self-indulgent (my apologies!) photos.

Unfortunately, none of these pictures are scandalous. Kidding! Winking smile

I’m actually wearing glasses from Cubik Eyewear in these pictures. Speaking of which, I’m giving away glasses, worth a minimum of PhP5000! Find out how you can win customized eyewear here.

Okay, enough vanity for one day. I need to sleep and get ready for clinic duty tomorrow. Nighty, everyone!

Durex Sexhibit and Thoughts on Condom Use

Having attended the Durex Sexhibit last October 14, 2011 at A Venue Mall in Makati, I remembered a few things about myself: I’m a physician, and I’m Catholic. But I will talk about condoms and pills if my patients ask me about them.

Durex Sexhibit

After all, if my religion prompts me to believe that blood transfusions are a sin, it shouldn’t stop me from offering blood transfusions to a dengue patient who needs it. As a doctor, I have my own beliefs and principles – but I can not impose them on my patients.

Patients have to decide for themselves in terms of their treatment plan. However, if their plans involve abortion, I will not schedule one for them. But if a patient comes in, bleeding because of having had an abortion in some other non-licensed clinic, I will see to it that the patient receives emergency care.

If my religion prompts me to believe that blood transfusions are a sin, it shouldn’t stop me from offering blood transfusions to a dengue patient who needs it. In the same way, my beliefs about condoms should not stop me from educating patients who ask for information on condom use.

There are many pitfalls when it comes to ethical issues, and a lot of them are subject to argument. Opinions will always vary, but one thing stands true: as doctors, we can tell our patients which procedures we are not willing to perform; however, we can not withhold information that they deserve to know, as long as it does not endanger their health or life, even if we are against giving it.

All seriousness aside, the Durex Exhibit was something I’ve never experienced before.

There was a phone booth where you get to eavesdrop on people supposedly doing the dirty:

And here are a few fun facts about sexual practices and beliefs in other parts of the world:

In Hong Kong, a betrayed wife can kill her husband with her bare hands? Boy, do I want to live there! Smile with tongue out

Durex also featured a few adult toys – unfortunately, I can’t post a few of the pictures, lest I be subjected to censorship!

This reminded me of the article on HIV that I am currently writing:

There was also an exhibit of sorts, featuring love potions, pheromones, STDs, and other interesting topics:

The exhibit was not only fun; it was informative as well. All that information went straight to my head – can I please take a nap now? Flirt male

Web Hosting Tips

Ever since I shifted from a free domain to my very own .COM domain, I had a lot of trouble. All the backlinks that led to my previous blog seemed to have lost their effect on my blog’s PageRank, and even my new blog posts were not quickly recognized by Google. It was then that I realized how important web hosting was.

Choosing a good web hosting service can spell the difference between seamless website maintenance and troublesome, pain-in-the-neck blog upkeep. I wanted a stress-free blog before, something that I could use to vent. It was only recently that I found the value of using my blog as a platform and as a means of earning a little on the side.

After that, I decided to get my own .COM domain. I was about to buy the domain name at its original price when I remembered that web hosting services usually had promotional codes and discount coupons which you could use to get your domain name at a cheaper price. Good thing I searched for those coupons because I got my domain at about 20% off!

Before you buy your domain, look for promo coupons for web hosting. It’s worth it.

On Sports and Victory

Sports – it’s not my cup of tea. Even going to the gym is something I dread. But that doesn’t keep me from being quite proud of our country’s rugby and soccer teams, both of which have been making waves here and abroad.

The Azkals have become a household name this year, especially because they have set new records for the Philippines. Okay, it’s probably the Younghusband brothers’ good looks that made the women want to listen to soccer news; nevertheless, nobody can deny that Azkals put the Philippines on the map in terms of world soccer.

The Volcanoes rugby team gives us even more pride as they won the silver medal at the Asian Men’s Rugby Championships for 2011. Despite being newbies – er, rookies, in the sports world – the team made it to the finals and came close to winning first prize. Now, they are preparing to compete in the Olympics. Hurray to our very own rugby team! If a lot of Filipinos will be on the lookout for promotional vouchers and discount coupons for both rugby and soccer next year, I won’t be surprised.

The Hot Brownies in Manila

Last October 5, 2011, the Hot Brownies, a jazz band from Germany, came to Manila and performed at The Collective’s B-Side. It was the preliminary show for a leg of shows in Manila, to be held at Bonifacio High Street on October 7 to 9, 2011.

Hot Brownies

The German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) is holding an event called Mabuhay Germany, featuring different aspects of German culture, including recent technological advances from Germany, worksmanship and business standards, and culture. This is why The Hot Brownies, the jazz band that Germany boasts of, has come to Manila.

After the show, I had the chance to chat with the band members, who were more than happy to entertain everyone.

The B-Side was a cozy bar with couches and coffee tables that were perfect for lounging in after a hectic day. Their quirky décor made the place look more like a room in a house than a bar.

At the B-Side, the Hot Brownies performed for an hour and wowed the crowd. WiLLiT Blend’s Filippa Gojo lent her vocal styling to the jazz band and crooned several pop jazz songs, keeping things nostalgic and romantic.

I’ve always wanted to listen to a live jazz band. Finally, I can tick that off my bucket list. Be right back Glad to have watched the Hot Brownies from Germany – their music was ear candy.
