Sarcastic Note to Self

Yesterday, I was called a nuisance behind my back because I purportedly “picked a fight” with someone at a time that was inconvenient for that person. I heard that person tell his brother, “Of all the times she could pick a fight, she would do it when I’m this busy and I’m about to sleep. What a nuisance!”

I did not know that getting mad at someone who mistreated you was “picking a fight”; I always assumed it was simply getting mad at something worth getting mad at. I also did not know that when a person does not treat you the right way, you have to pick a fight some other time that is convenient for that person. I always assumed that if someone maligns you, you should let it be known that you are not going to take it sitting down, regardless of whether or not the maligner is, um, “busy”.

So, here’s my sarcastic note to self:

When someone mistreats you, don't "pick a fight" when he/she is busy and/or about to sleep. That way, you don't get called a pest behind your back. Instead, schedule it some other time when it is convenient for said person.

Topper, my boyfriend’s chihuahua, is a natural in front of the camera. Unfortunately, I’m not! Hahaha. But Topper and I took the time to pose a few times and here are our, um, semi-trying-hard pictures.

I can almost hear you say, “So cute! Now, who’s that human staring at him?”

Suplado Show hosted by Stanley Chi

Suplado is the new Sexy! Yes, the suplado mania has started.

A few months back, Suplado Tips was launched – and the world’s state of economy has changed forever. People learned how to talk their way out of deadlines (something a blogger like myself can relate to), how to deal with rude cab drivers, and what to do if someone tries to cut in line.

Suplado Tips has sold over 3000 books in just – wait for it – three months! Bob Ong, watch out; there’s a new hit author in town. The suplado tips in the book are funny and actually borrow their humor from real life scenarios. I learned many new suplado ways of handling annoying stalkers, conceited co-workers, and other people who are way out of line in terms of how they treat other people.

It is rather exciting that after Suplado Tips became a hit, Stanley Chi is about to come out with his own line of watch, the Suplado Watch, from UniSilver Time! And yes, Iya Villania is mesmerized by the sexy suplado Stanley Chi, as seen in outtakes of their photoshoot:

suplado watch

To continue with the Suplado Fever, Stanley Chi now has his own internet radio show, to be aired starting this September at Dig Radio (formerly NU 107). It’s called the Suplado Show!

It’s sure to be another hit, given Stanley Chi’s knack for candor and humor. Yes, he pulls it off real well – and he’s out to prove it!

Suplado Watch from Unisilver Time by Stanley Chi

Yes, there’s a Suplado Watch. Suplado… is the new Sexy!

Stanley Chi, the author of the bestseller Suplado Tips, has wowed the Philippines with his unorthodox book. Suplado Tips is a compilation of pointers on how to assert yourself with panache. Here’s an example of a suplado tip:

Kung may nagsusungit sayo at sinabing mainit ulo niya dahil gutom siya, hiritan mo ng, “Hoy gutom din ako, baka patulan kita!”

(roughly translated as: If someone is being a bitch because she’s hungry, say, “I’m hungry too, so don’t wait for me to be a bigger bitch!”)

The suplado plane has landed!

And yes, it’s time to make the suplado fans get a little more dose of supladoness. This time around, Unisilver Time is launching the Suplado Watch, endorsed by none other than Stanley Chi, the one and only Mr. Suplado of the Philippines.

Iya Villania joins Stanley Chi during the Suplado Watch photoshoot. Iya gamely poses with Stanley, giving everyone a run for their money.

Here are a few pics from the Suplado Watch photoshoot:

Absolutely Free!

Mayan Maze Game Summary:

Mayan Maze is a free game with one objective: get rid of all the balls in the board and you proceed to the next level. If you have played Zuma before and you have found yourself addicted to it, then Mayan Maze is going to be a game you’ll love!

Each level shows a string of balls of different colors. Aim one ball at a time at the string of balls until you get three or more balls in a row for those balls to disappear. The more balls are matched, the better your chances at getting power-ups that help you. You can also purchase powerups using the points you have earned from each level.

Mayan Maze Game Review:

Graphics, animation, and audio are great. For a free game, it offers endless hours of gameplay.

Mayan Maze does have a few bugs which, luckily, are resolved by relaunching the game. The most common bug I’ve encountered while playing Mayan Maze was that the ball launcher usually ran out of balls, so proceeding with the game was impossible. Simply exit the game and open it again, and the problem gets resolved. Don’t worry, your previous progress is always saved, regardless of what part of the game you are in.

There is supposed to be a prize when you finish the game. The screen displays a congratulatory note, saying “You have found the lost civilization’s treasure!” However, when I clicked on the button, it simply redirected to the download website – and there was no add-on for the game. In other words, once you finish the game, that’s it.

Still, it was an amusing game, one I would like to play when I get bored or burnt out from work. Download Mayan Maze for free by clicking on the link below. It has no viruses, worms, or trojans – Norton attests to it! Enjoy! Smile

It’s great to have a lovely black cat as a pet. In my eyes, he’s the most beautiful cat in the world.

Trust Nobody

About three months ago, I introduced a guy to my parents. He seemed like a nice enough guy, although I sensed that he had a wandering eye. But he promised to be loyal, so I gave it a shot.

A day after I introduced him to my parents, he asked another girl out – and I find out only now.

Here’s the thing when someone betrays your trust: all his words lose meaning. His declarations of love, his promises to do good by you become null. Those words are no longer backed by a strong belief that yes, they do mean something.

Making sense of betrayal in a relationship also becomes futile. No, there usually is no answer to the question, “How could he have done it?” There is no right answer to the question, “Weren’t we happy?” As a couple, you could be as happy as Santa Claus on Prozac, yet all the deceit will still happen if someone chooses to go down that road. Besides, knowing the how’s and the why’s does not make the pain go away. Sadly, there is no comfort in knowing.

There is no excuse for unfaithfulness. Every person who cheats has made that decision in their own time, knowing the consequences yet still choosing to do it. It is the one thing that could – and maybe should – break two people apart.

I believe that although to forgive is divine, to allow someone to act like you don’t exist simply because you weren’t looking is just plain dumb. And I refuse to be dumb in any way.

Dumbness, ladies and gentlemen, stops right here. Trust, as they say, takes years to build, a second to break, and forever to repair. The damage has been done.

So, they didn’t sleep together? Isn’t that worse? An emotional affair is, unfortunately, much worse than a merely physical affair; here’s why.

Why You Should Put On Makeup

If you’re asking yourself why you should put on makeup, you’re not alone. A lot of people assume that putting on makeup is transforming your face into something almost unrecognizable from your makeup-free face. Eeep, wrong – unless you’re putting on makeup in preparation for a lo-fi photo shoot or appearing on television as a soap star.

Putting on makeup means hiding your flaws, highlighting your best features, and bringing out your best look. The best makeup will make you look like you, but better. Of course, some put on makeup to look really different. But if you love your face the way it is, all you need to do is make the tiniest changes.

Unfortunately, even the “tiniest” changes may mean concealer, foundation, highlighting powder, and blush. I’ve been so used to seeing myself in makeup that I feel so washed out without it.

Here’s a picture of me without makeup.

stef dela cruz

My eyes seem so bare, my lips so pale, and to think I put on very light makeup everyday. I use eyeliner, concealer, powder, blush, lipstick, and eyeshadow when I’m up to it. That may seem like a lot, but I use so little that it just changes how I look by very little. I don’t want to look like I’m about to appear on TV when I put on everyday makeup; I want people to believe I have no makeup on, hihi!

Still, this picture of me with absolutely no makeup on is an eye opener. I know I look too pale for a good picture, but it doesn’t really matter tonight. Life is too good for me to care.

Holly’s Coffee in Manila, Philippines

Who knew there would be Holly’s Coffee in Manila, Philippines?

There’s a new café in town. A couple of days ago, I went outside my condominium to find a pleasant surprise waiting for me. Holly’s Coffee has just opened! It looks even cozier than a Starbucks coffee shop. They also have computers ready for customers, and they will be providing free WiFi for customers in a week.

Holly's Coffee

I tend to work best in an environment that encourages creativity. Holly’s Coffee in Taft Avenue, Manila is definitely going to be one of my favorite go-to places. It’s right beside De La Salle University, making it accessible to students. And, even better, it’s right across my home. Yay!

I love that they also use the Beeping UFO. It’s a disc-shaped device that vibrates and beeps, complete with flashing LED lights, when your order is ready for pickup.

Holly's Coffee

Their food options are mainly carbohydrate-rich pastries and cakes, something which I wish they’d change. How I’d love to have chicken wraps or salads with my coffee. However, they do serve unique Korean drinks which other coffee shops don’t offer. I’m definitely going to try one of those the next time I drop by.

Holly's Coffee

The lights inside are a little harsh; they use spotlights that brighten up the entire place. I’d love it if Holly’s Coffee toned it down a notch. The chairs and tables are very cozy though, and it’s nice to see a coffee shop that offers free, yes, FREE, WiFi.

*Holly’s Coffee is now in the Philippines! Holly’s Coffee is located at One Archer’s Place, Taft Avenue corner Castro Street, conveniently located a stone’s throw away from De La Salle University.

Fringe 2

I am fascinated by the supernatural. That’s what I realize while watching Fringe 2 on TV.

I love watching movies and TV series about ghosts, supernatural powers, superhuman powers, and all that hullabaloo. But let me just make one thing clear: I don’t believe in any of it.

I try to keep an open mind. Maybe there are ghosts, or maybe pyrokinesis really exists. But until I see proof, I really can’t believe any of it.

Maybe I became so jaded to everything supernatural because of the nature of my job. I am now a person of science; I believe in empirical research, in randomized control trials, and in scientific theories. It is therefore funny that I am a very intuitive person.

Intuitive or not, I shall never really believe in supernatural stuff. But yes, I will keep my eyes wide open.

Yep, that’s what I get from watching Fringe 2 way too much.
