My Love-Hate Relationship With Travelling

I love going places. That’s one of the reasons why I loved joining contests when I was little. I had the privilege of representing my school in out-of-town regional and national contests, but what I loved more was the opportunity to sleep in a place that is completely foreign to me.

You see, that’s how you meet new people. You stay up late, tell stories, share a few laughs, and make friends. I absolutely loved travelling! Unfortunately, there was a catch: I was hopelessly carsick.

Nausea is my most consistent companion whenever I travelled. Even a simple cab ride from Manila to Makita just might make me too sick to enjoy a night out. However, that never discouraged me from hoping against hope that my motion sickness will just go away like a misdiagnosed allergy.

And despite the obvious comfort of taking a cab in Manila, I actually prefer riding the train. There is something about the LRT and the MRT that appeals to me. I love the fact that I can get from Pasay to Quezon City in twenty minutes via train, while a cab ride would have taken two hours. I love that on certain occasions, the train would actually be empty – and oh, those are the days I get to enjoy the scenic ride through the city.

Travelling will always be one of the things I’ll want to do, regardless of the possible barfing that might happen. Disgusting, yes, but the heart wants what it wants – and mine wants to travel! School bus
