Katy Perry Endorses Acne-Busting Brand, Proactiv!
About 25 years ago, a woman opened the door to a knock. There was a visitor at the door; she looked polished and distinguished. The woman who opened the door promptly ushered in the lady guest.
The man of the house then came down to welcome the lady visitor. “How did you manage to find a maid?” the lady guest asked the man, referring to the woman who opened the door for her.
Unbeknown to the guest, the woman who opened the door was not the maid. In fact, she was the man’s wife. She also happens to be my mother.
When my mother shared this story with me, I was surprised. My mother carried herself with such poise that mistaking her for a maid did not make sense to me. So it begged the question: why was she mistaken for a housemaid?
My mother said it was not the only time that she was judged harshly. She also said she was not surprised that her worth was measured based on her looks, based on the pockmarks on her face and the acne she struggled with during her early adult life.
I understand the burden of having pimples. Fortunately, there are many available products that help in the treatment of acne vulgaris (yes, that’s its medical term). For instance, there are commercially-available acne preparations, such as New Proactiv: Faster and Gentler. Katy Perry is endorsing this product.
New Proactive is found in Watsons stores nationwide. Its active ingredient is benzoyl peroxide (microcrystal preparation). Benzoyl peroxide kills Propionibacterium acnes, the germ that contributes to the development of angry, red pimples. Of course, you might need keratolytics to ensure that comedones (whiteheads and blackheads) are also managed, which is why it would be best to ask your dermatologist about what other medication you might need for acne.
Of course, you should seek consult with a physician before you apply any topical medication on your skin. As a physician, I strongly recommend that you get your dermatologist’s thumbs-up before you buy any over-the-counter products.
And once your dermatologist says you can use Proactiv Solution, you can join their promo and get PhP150 shaved off the price when you purchase their 30-day kit (PhP2495), or a PhP300 discount for their 60-day kit (PhP3995). Hurry, though, as this is only until the end of January 2012!
You also get to qualify for a draw that promises Titanium Tickets to none other than Katy Perry’s concert, to be held at SM Mall of Asia! A 30-day kit gets you one raffle entry, while the 60-day kit gets you two raffle entries. (This promo is until January 15, 2012. Drawing of winners will be on the 17th.)
Purchases from Proactiv’s online shopping site, via delivery hotlines (1-800-87298888 or 1-800-108894444, 729-2222 or 09178018888) mall stalls at Robinsons Galleria, Glorietta, Marquee Mall, Trinoma, or Eastwood Mall, and Watsons’ stores in SM malls (Megamall, Makati, North Edsa, Mall of Asia, and Cubao) are valid. (For SM purchases, give your raffle entries to Proactiv Promodisers in the store.)
If you buy online from the Proactiv website, your online registration account name will be considered for your raffle entry. For purchases via delivery hotlines, your account name will do. And for purchases made through mall stalls, do include your name, address, contact number, email address, product purchased, purchase date, receipt number, and your signature. The Proactiv Promodiser should then countersign your raffle entry. Please keep your official receipts after they are marked “claimed”!
You may win one of two Titanium Tickets, priced at about PhP6850 each, to Katy Perry’s California Dreams Tour on January 22 in SM Mall of Asia, or one of the two Gold Tickets worth about PhP3710 each. Winners are to be contacted through phone call or email on January 17, 2012 after the draw. If you win, you MUST claim your prize on or before January 20, 5 p.m. at Top American Products Solutions Inc, 17th Floor Tower 2, RCBC Plaza, Makati, or your prize will be forefeited! Bring your ID and your receipt. And put on makeup because your picture will be taken! Wow, it’s gonna be your one-minute claim to fame!
Oh, and don’t purchase from other outlets that are not authorized to sell Proactiv. Who knows what’s in those bottles! *Wrinkles nose* And if you’re not happy with your Proactiv kit, they have a money-back guarantee.
Don't you just love Katy Perry! Big fan! Glad to know she's human too!
ReplyDeleteI hope the drug works. Will research on micro crystal preparation benzoyl peroxide. Hope they have studies, too.
ReplyDeleteTP, I like Katy as well. Have you seen her guesting at The Simpson's? :)
ReplyDeleteGamer, wow, please share the articles you find! Thanks!
Woah! That lady was rude! Good thing your mother seems forbearing! I have a friend who swears by Proactiv. She often breaks out on her chin because she's apparently allergic to toothpaste. She claims that Proactive is the only brand that has helped her get rid of her pimples. :) Thanks for dropping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteang sama naman nun. If i am the son, suntukin ko na ung nagsabi na maid mama ko. Loko un ah pero this one helps for those who have pimples but depressing ung experience ng mum mo just because she has pimples? Grabe lang talaga ung babae na un.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the time I was mistaken for a sales clerk in a department store. But I think it was more because of my clothes than my face. Oh, yeah Katy Perry is a firework!
ReplyDeleteThere will always be people, just like that lady, who can't speak with tact. Oh well. And it's harsh when you get judged based on your looks.
ReplyDeleteI also have acne or pimples before but with proper treatment nawala naman. Thanks to the products I use, :) keep posting reviews!
ReplyDeleteThat was harsh.. >.< Anyway, acne has always been a big problem for most people -- girls or guys. Everyone gets to go through it, pati si Katy Perry. Super lucky lang yung mga hindi masyado nagka-pimples.
ReplyDeleteBlair, good for you. :) I always tell my friends to please see a dermatologist before they buy commercial products. As for Proactiv, I can't post a review yet because I haven't used it. This post is just for promotional purposes because they do have a sale promo going on. :)
ReplyDeleteSumi, that's true, good skin is like a wonderful gift. But even the smoothest face will suffer at least one pimple. ;)
I understand how it is to be on your mom's shoes. I, too, has been mistaken to be my children's nanny several times, especially the sales ladies on department stores.
ReplyDeleteMiss Sumi Go, I guess I am one of those fortunate women who only gets a pimple or two once a month. :)
Those were harsh words! And I salute your mother for being so poised! I have friends who used to use proactiv when we were younger and I can say, its really effective. Also, I love Katy Perry! She's purrfect for this campaign.
ReplyDeleteManette, it's kinda unfair that people immediately "guess" who you are, right? Oh well. But look at it this way: it feels nice to correct that person with your head held high. They'll feel really embarrassed!
ReplyDeleteChel, harsh words indeed. My mom rarely loses her temper. ;)
i never had pimple problems during my younger years. It is sad to read about your mom being mistaken as housemaid just because of here acne and your mom provr herself to be an educated and poised woman by the way she acted.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tess. Yes, my mom is quite a character. Funny, endearing, and will get to the bottom of things - in a nice way.
