The Hot Brownies: German Jazz Band in Manila
Last October 5, 2011, the Hot Brownies, a jazz band from Germany, came to Manila and performed at The Collective’s B-Side. It was the preliminary show for a leg of shows in Manila, to be held at Bonifacio High Street on October 7 to 9, 2011.
The German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) is holding an event called Mabuhay Germany, featuring different aspects of German culture, including recent technological advances from Germany, worksmanship and business standards, and culture. This is why The Hot Brownies, the jazz band that Germany boasts of, has come to Manila.

After the show, I had the chance to chat with the band members, who were more than happy to entertain everyone.

The B-Side was a cozy bar with couches and coffee tables that were perfect for lounging in after a hectic day. Their quirky décor made the place look more like a room in a house than a bar.

At the B-Side, the Hot Brownies performed for an hour and wowed the crowd. WiLLiT Blend’s Filippa Gojo lent her vocal styling to the jazz band and crooned several pop jazz songs, keeping things nostalgic and romantic.

I’ve always wanted to listen to a live jazz band. Finally, I can tick that off my bucket list. Glad to have watched the Hot Brownies from Germany – their music was ear candy.
