Shamcey Supsup: Third Runner-Up Miss Universe 2011!
Have you ever thought of being a beauty queen? If holding the title of Miss Universe is one of your secret dreams, then don’t lose heart; after all, our very own Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup almost won the crown for Miss Universe 2011.
Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup during the evening gown competition of Miss Universe 2011. Does anybody know who designed her gown?
Almost, because three other contestants came to bag second runner up, first runner up, and the ultimate crown for Miss Universe 2011. Miss Angola, the elegant Leila Lopes, bagged the crown – and it’s Angola’s very first time to do so. Miss Ukraine, the blonde Olesya Stefanko, almost became the title holder. If she did, she would have been the first Miss Universe from Ukraine, too.
The second runner-up of Miss Universe 2011 was Priscila Machado froom Brazil, which was like a cherry on top of the fact that the Miss Universe 2011 was held at Sao Paolo, Brazil. Third runner-up Miss Philippines, Shamcey Supsup, was a definite crowd favorite, getting most of the fan votes consistently during the event.
Shamcey Supsup’s answer during the question and answer portion was bold and honest. She was asked by actress Vivica Fox if she would change her religion to marry someone she loves, to which Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup immediately answered, “I would not change my religion because, first of all, I love my God who created me and if that person truly loves me, he must also love my God.” She showed no second thoughts, no hesitation – just a hundred percent conviction.

Yes, perhaps my opinion is greatly biased, but I would have ranked Miss Philippines higher, perhaps as a first runner-up, if not the title holder. She was the only one of the five finalists to answer without a translator, which meant she had no extra time to formulate an answer. Still, her answer was strong and true, traits that would have been very becoming of a modern woman – and of a Miss Universe.
Congratulations to Miss Angola for bagging the crown at the Miss Universe 2011 pageant! And congratulations to Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup, you are the winner in the hearts of the Filipinos.
