Urban Myths

No, they’re not the same as urban legends. But they’re myths in every sense. Here’s my personal list of a handful of urban myths that I got to bust:

  1. You can’t live alone in Manila when you’re just 16.
  2. You can’t snag a boyfriend when you’re sporting a teenage boy’s haircut.
  3. You can’t assemble a heavy cabinet without the help of a man.
  4. You can’t find out what’s on other people’s minds unless you’re telepathic.
  5. You can’t build a website on your own unless you went to school for it.

MYTHS BUSTED.

Living Alone

Living alone in the city. It’s interesting, almost never boring, and a constant risk of getting mugged or maimed.

city

This is how the rest of the city looks from my condominium. Makes me feel like I’m such a tiny human being and everything else is larger than life.

I’m alone, yes. Lonely, not really. There’s a lot to keep me occupied. Sometimes, there’s more on my plate than I can manage. Of course, this is a good thing – I’m not complaining.

Being vulnerable has never been my strong suit. I so don’t like being rescued.

Or maybe that’s just me being defensive. I blame it on the city; it’s just too darn beautiful.
